Heliconias

Heliconias are positioned as one of the most popular tropical species for cultivating ornamental plants. Their look is similar to musaceae and their brightly colored flowers are pollinated by humming birds while other bird species disperse their fruits and seeds. The Garden has a collection of more than 100 native and exotic heliconia species that grow along with similar species such as bird of paradise, marantaceae, musaceae, gingers, and costus.
