Bromeliads
Bromeliads are one of the plant groups that are best adapted to the Garden's climatic conditions. Most of the members of this family are easily recognized due to the arrangement of their leaves into a rosette and their very colorful blossoms, which confer a great deal of ornamental value. The best known member of this family is the pineapple. In the Garden trees are frequently seen that are completely covered with Tillandsia genus bromeliads and epiphyte species that grow in the soil. In Costa Rica there are approximately 200 native bromeliad species. |
